Chi Omega & the Make-A-Wish® Foundation
One of Chi Omega's six purposes is philanthropy and community service. Chi Omega believes we need to devote our time to causes bigger than ourselves. In 2002, Chi Omega announced the alliance with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® .
Continuing its longstanding commitment to philanthropy, Chi Omega chapters, collegians and alumnae support the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® through volunteering, fundraising, and special events across the country. Since the program’s inception in 2002, Chi Omega chapters have volunteered over 400,000 hours. To date, Chi Omega has raised more than $6.5 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has helped to grant more than 890 wishes.

About the Make-A-Wish® Foundation
Founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy, Chris Greicius, fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is one of the world’s leading children’s charities, with 64 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 200,000 wishes in the United States since its inception. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions though its wish-granting work.
A wish experience is frequently a source of inspiration for children undergoing difficult medical treatments and a positive force that helps them overcome their obstacles. A wish experience is often more than a dream come true: It’s the catalyst that rekindles their belief in themselves and the promise of their future.

"It's been 30 years since my son Chris received his wish, and I am still amazed and inspired how one little boy's dream to be a policeman has touched the lives of so many thousands of people."
